This Vegan Garlicky Pepper Tofu recipe is a flavorful and satisfying dish perfect for a quick weeknight dinner. The combination of garlic, black pepper, and bell peppers creates a deliciously savory and slightly sweet sauce that coats the crispy tofu cubes. Serve it over rice or noodles for a complete meal.
Ingredients:
- 1 block tofu, pressed and cubed
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons water
- 2 green onions, chopped for garnish
Instructions:
Coat the tofu cubes thoroughly by mixing them in a bowl with soy sauce and cornstarch
In a pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat
Garlic powder should be added and sauted until aromatic
When the tofu cubes are golden brown on all sides, add them to the pan and cook
To the pan, add the bell pepper slices and the black pepper
Fry for two to three minutes
Combine water and maple syrup in a small bowl
Pour the mixture of pepper and tofu over the pan
Cook the tofu and peppers until the sauce thickens and covers them evenly
Before serving, sprinkle some chopped green onions on top
