Ingredients:
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 3 to 4 cups confectioners sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 3 tablespoons light corn syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- Assorted food coloring
Instructions:
Mix flour, baking soda, and baking powder in a small bowl
Put away
Mix the butter and white sugar in a big bowl until the mixture is smooth
The egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract should all be mixed in
Slowly add the dry ingredients and mix them in until they are just absorbed
Split the dough into two equal parts
Put the discs in the fridge for at least an hour after you shape them
Warm the oven up to 190C 375F
To make the dough 1/4 inch thick, roll it out on a lightly floured surface
Use cookie cutters to make the shapes you want
Put cookies on cookie sheets that havent been greased, one inch apart
In a hot oven, bake for 6 to 8 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden
Place on wire racks to cool
Put confectioners sugar in a bowl and sift it
It will be smooth and shiny after you add the milk, light corn syrup, and almond extract
Put different amounts of icing into bowls, and then add food coloring as you like
Use a slightly thicker icing to outline the cookies, and then use the rest of the icing to fill in the middle
After icing the cookies, let them cool down
