Ingredients:
- 1 block extra-firm tofu, sliced thinly
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon liquid smoke
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 8 slices bread of choice
- Lettuce leaves
- Tomato slices
- Mayonnaise or vegan mayo, for spreading
Instructions:
Press tofu between paper towels to remove excess moisture
In a shallow dish, whisk together soy sauce, maple syrup, liquid smoke, smoked paprika, and garlic powder
Place tofu slices in the marinade, ensuring they are coated evenly
Let marinate for at least 15 minutes
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat
Add marinated tofu slices and cook until crispy and browned on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side
Toast bread slices until golden brown
Assemble sandwiches by spreading mayo on one side of each bread slice
Top with lettuce, tomato, and crispy tofu bacon
Place another slice of bread on top to complete the sandwiches
Cut sandwiches in half diagonally and serve immediately
